About the speaker:

Jin Dongping, professor and doctoral supervisor, graduated from Tianjin University in 1986 with the Bachelor of Engineering and achieved Ph.D. Degree of Engineering specializing in General Mechanics in Tianjin University in 1995. Now he is serving as Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Mechanics and Control of Mechanical Structures at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Professor Jin once worked as the visiting research fellow of the Royal Society in University College London. Additionally, he is also serving as a member of Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics and Chinese Society of Vibration Engineering, and the Deputy Committee Director of National Committee for Nonlinear Vibration and the GeneralMechanicsCommittee of Jiangsu Institute of Mechanics. He is also engaged in the editorial board of Acta Mechanica Sinica (Executive Editor-in-chief), Acta Aeronautica et Astronautica Sinica, Journal of Vibration Engineering, Journal of Dynamics and Control, and Books of NonlinearDynamics by the SciencePress. Also, he is also the guest editor ofChinese Journal of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. Professor Jin once published a monograph (Vibro-impact andControl, 2005) inSciencePress and published 132 journal papers. He once manufactured the first domestic dynamicsand control platform system of tethered satellites, and made the ground experiment of tethered satellite release and control. The dissertation titledDynamicControlforDeploymentandRetrievalofTetheredSatellite Systems jointly guided by Professor Jin and other scholars won the 2011 National Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award. He once won the first prize for 2004 NationalAward for Natural Sciencesby the Ministry of Education and the First Prize for National Defence Science and Technology Award (the 2nd person in charge), theSecond prize for2005 National Science and Technology Progress Award (the 2nd person in charge), and the second prize for 2006 National Award for Natural Sciences (the 3rd person in charge). In 2004, Professor Jin was titled as the Young Academic Leader of BlueProjectinvolving universities and colleges of Jiangsu province; and in 2006 he was titled as the Young Science and Technology Leader of 333 High-level Talents Cultivation Project of Jiangsu province.
